The container size is usually set by the shipper abroad, but it still changes how the land move is planned. Here is how we look at it.
Heavy and dense cargo: often 20 ft
Steel, tiles, stone and bagged goods fill the weight limit before they fill the space. A 20 ft container keeps the load within the legal axle weight, and some trailers can carry two at once to nearby sites.
Light and bulky cargo: often 40 ft
Furniture, packaging, textiles and machinery parts need volume more than weight. A 40 ft container (or a 40 ft high cube) moves on a standard container trailer.
What changes the price
- The distance and the road: port to Borg El Arab is not the same as port to Upper Egypt.
- The waiting time at loading or unloading.
- Whether we return the empty, and to which yard.
- Special handling: an over-weight or out-of-gauge load needs a different trailer.
Not sure? Send the packing list and we will tell you which trailer fits and what it costs.
