Most delays in moving a container out of the port are not on the road. They happen at the gate, when one paper or one date is missing. Here is what we ask our clients to have ready before we send a truck.
1. The delivery order
The shipping line issues the delivery order once freight and local charges are paid. Send us a copy with the container number, size (20 ft or 40 ft) and the terminal it sits in.
2. Customs release
Your customs broker finishes the release. Tell us the expected day early; we plan the truck for the same day the release comes out.
3. The free days
Ask the shipping line how many free days you have before demurrage and detention start. We plan the delivery and the return of the empty around that date, not after it.
4. The unloading place
Send the exact address, a contact name and the receiving hours. If the site needs a gate pass or the street is narrow for a trailer, tell us before the trip.
5. The return yard
The empty goes back to the yard the shipping line names. We confirm it the day before so the driver does not go to the wrong yard.
Send these five items with your quote request and we will give you a clear price and a pick-up day.
